Seed Monitoring System

The Seed Monitoring System, part of the Enhanced Quality Seed Supply Project (EQSSP), is a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector in Bangladesh by improving seed quality and distribution. It supports three major institutions: the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), and the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI).

Introduction to the project

Seed Monitoring system addresses challenges in seed quality, distribution, and data management by providing a comprehensive digital platform for monitoring and evaluation. Coordinated by the Seed Wing of the Ministry of Agriculture and Synesis IT, it ensures seamless data collection, supply chain oversight, and stakeholder communication. The system enhances transparency, fosters accountability, and boosts agricultural productivity by ensuring farmers have access to high-quality seeds.

Challenges Before the System

K
L
Data Inaccuracy

The agricultural sector lacked reliable, up-to-date information on seed usage, leading to inefficiencies in distribution and underutilization of resources.

K
L
Inefficient Traditional Methods

Manual methods of monitoring seed quality and availability were error-prone and inadequate to meet modern agricultural demands.

K
L
Communication Gaps

Poor coordination among farmers, seed dealers, and institutions hindered effective decision-making and disrupted the supply chain.

K
L
Supply Chain Complexity

Managing the seed supply from production to end-users was cumbersome due to the absence of an integrated system.

K
L
Accountability Issues

Limited traceability in seed production and distribution reduced transparency and stakeholder confidence in the system.
